Norwich Western Link

The Norwich Western Link is a new 4 mile section of dual-2 highway planned to fill the ‘missing link’ in the Norwich ring road between Broadland Northway and the A47. The project includes a major viaduct structure across the Wensum River floodplain and several subsidiary overbridges. BEAM supported the winning tender consortium to develop the Owner’s reference design, with an optimised viaduct structure featuring a weathering steel ladder beam superstructure to increase spans and reduce environmental impacts. As the corridor alignment evolved, BEAM Architects provided extensive visualisation resources to allow public consultation and EIA processes to proceed.
